    Das Forschungsvorhaben stellt eine Sondierungsstudie zum Thema 'Industrielle Innovationszyklen und sozial-ökologische Problemlagen' dar, bei der im Rahmen einer Literaturanalyse der derzeitige Forschungsstand eruiert, seine Stärken und Schwächen analysiert und Empfehlungen für zukünftige Forschungsfragestellungen gegeben wurden. Zu den Stärken des bisherigen Forschungsstandes gehören die systematische Bezugsetzung von Innovationsfolgen zu den Zusammenhängen von Umwelt und Gesellschaft sowie die Möglichkeit der Einbeziehung der gesellschaftswissenschaftlichen Technik- und Risikoforschung in die Nachhaltigkeitsforschung. Zu den Schwächen des bisherigen Forschungsstandes gehören neben der unzureichenden Integration von Nutzungskonkurrenzen und Verteilungskonflikten in einen systematischen ökologisch-sozialwissenschaftlichen Ansatz vor allem die fehlende analytische Berücksichtigung eines sich abzeichnenden Übergangs zu einem neuen industriellen Innovationszyklus im Rahmen eines sozial-ökologischen Forschungsansatzes sowie das beträchtliche Defizit auf den Gebieten der Industrie- und Innovationsforschung. Zukünftiger Forschungsbedarf wird vor allem in den Bereichen eines Vergleichs der empirischen Verläufe und Folgen vergangener Innovationszyklen, einer Analyse gegenwärtiger Innovationswellen und einer generellen Analyse struktureller und dynamischer Muster sozial-ökologischer Transformationsprozesse gesehen.<br

    Gene-flow between populations of cotton bollworm Helicoverpa armigera (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae) is highly variable between years

    Both large and small scale migrations of Helicoverpa armigera Hübner in Australia were investigated using AMOVA analysis and genetic assignment tests. Five microsatellite loci were screened across 3142 individuals from 16 localities in eight major cotton and grain growing regions within Australia, over a 38-month period (November 1999 to January 2003). From November 1999 to March 2001 relatively low levels of migration were characterized between growing regions. Substantially higher than average gene-flow rates and limited differentiation between cropping regions characterized the period from April 2001 to March 2002. A reduced migration rate in the year from April 2002 to March 2003 resulted in significant genetic structuring between cropping regions. This differentiation was established within two or three generations. Genetic drift alone is unlikely to drive genetic differentiation over such a small number of generations, unless it is accompanied by extreme bottlenecks and/or selection. Helicoverpa armigera in Australia demonstrated isolation by distance, so immigration into cropping regions is more likely to come from nearby regions than from afar. This effect was most pronounced in years with limited migration. However, there is evidence of long distance dispersal events in periods of high migration (April 2001–March 2002).     Superconducting Vortices and Elliptical Ferromagnetic Textures

    In this article an analytical and numerical study of superconducting thin film with ferromagnetic textures of elliptical geometries in close proximity is presented. The screening currents induced in the superconductor due to the magnetic texture are calculated. Close to the superconducting transition temperature TcT_c the spontaneous creation of superconducting vortices becomes energy favorable depending on the value of the magnetization and the geometrical quantities of the magnetic texture. The creation of vortices by elliptic dots is more energy favorable than those created by circular ones. The superconductor covered by elliptic dots array exhibits anisotropic transport properties.Comment: 4 pages, 5figure

    Seasonal effects on miRNA and transcriptomic profile of oocytes and follicular cells in buffalo (Bubalus bubalis)

    Season clearly influences oocyte competence in buffalo (Bubalus bubalis); however, changes in the oocyte molecular status in relation to season are poorly understood. This study characterizes the microRNA (miRNA) and transcriptomic profiles of oocytes (OOs) and corresponding follicular cells (FCs) from buffalo ovaries collected in the breeding (BS) and non-breeding (NBS) seasons. In the BS, cleavage and blastocyst rates are significantly higher compared to NBS. Thirteen miRNAs and two mRNAs showed differential expression (DE) in FCs between BS and NBS. DE-miRNAs target gene analysis uncovered pathways associated with transforming growth factor \u3b2 (TGF\u3b2) and circadian clock photoperiod. Oocytes cluster in function of season for their miRNA content, showing 13 DE-miRNAs between BS and NBS. Between the two seasons, 22 differentially expressed genes were also observed. Gene Ontology (GO) analysis of miRNA target genes and differentially expressed genes (DEGs) in OOs highlights pathways related to triglyceride and sterol biosynthesis and storage. Co-expression analysis of miRNAs and mRNAs revealed a positive correlation between miR-296-3p and genes related to metabolism and hormone regulation. In conclusion, season significantly affects female fertility in buffalo and impacts on oocyte transcriptomic of genes related to folliculogenesis and acquisition of oocyte competence

    Reproducibility of straylight measurement by C-Quant for assessment of retinal straylight using the compensation comparison method.

    BACKGROUND: Straylight gives the appearance of a veil of light thrown over a person's retinal image when there is a strong light source present. We examined the reproducibility of the measurements by C-Quant, and assessed its correlation to characteristics of the eye and subjects' age. PARTICIPANTS AND METHODS: Five repeated straylight measurements were taken using the dominant eye of 45 healthy subjects (age 21-59) with a BCVA of 20/20: 14 emmetropic, 16 myopic, eight hyperopic and seven with astigmatism. We assessed the extent of reproducibility of straylight measures using the intraclass correlation coefficient. RESULTS: The mean straylight value of all measurements was 1.01 (SD 0.23, median 0.97, interquartile range 0.85-1.1). Per 10 years of age, straylight increased in average by 0.10 (95%CI 0.04 to 0.16, p &lt; 0.01]. We found no independent association of refraction (range -5.25 dpt to +2 dpt) on straylight values (0.001; 95%CI -0.022 to 0.024, p = 0.92). Compared to emmetropic subjects, myopia reduced straylight (-.011; -0.024 to 0.02, p = 0.11), whereas higher straylight values (0.09; -0.01 to 0.20, p = 0.09) were observed in subjects with blue irises as compared to dark-colored irises when correcting for age. The intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC) of repeated measurements was 0.83 (95%CI 0.76 to 0.90). CONCLUSIONS: Our study showed that straylight measurements with the C-Quant had a high reproducibility, i.e. a lack of large intra-observer variability, making it appropriate to be applied in long-term follow-up studies assessing the long-term effect of surgical procedures on the quality of vision

    BD()B \to D^{(*)} Form Factors from QCD Light-Cone Sum Rules

    We derive new QCD sum rules for BDB\to D and BDB\to D^* form factors. The underlying correlation functions are expanded near the light-cone in terms of BB-meson distribution amplitudes defined in HQET, whereas the cc-quark mass is kept finite. The leading-order contributions of two- and three-particle distribution amplitudes are taken into account. From the resulting light-cone sum rules we calculate all B\to \Dst form factors in the region of small momentum transfer (maximal recoil). In the infinite heavy-quark mass limit the sum rules reduce to a single expression for the Isgur-Wise function. We compare our predictions with the form factors extracted from experimental B\to \Dst l \nu_l decay rates fitted to dispersive parameterizations.Comment: 20 pages, 6 figures; one reference, one figure and several comments added; version to appear in European Physical Journal

Met het project ‘Veerkracht Grote Wateren’ is er nu een raamwerk ontwikkeld dat het begrip veerkracht hanteerbaar maakt. Het raamwerk biedt strategieën om de veerkracht te vergroten en ondersteunt bij het monitoren van de gebiedsdoelen. Hiermee kunnen de ambities van de Gebiedsagenda IJsselmeergebied en de Programmatische Aanpak Grote Wateren (PAGW) worden geoperationaliseerd

    Group schema therapy for cluster-C personality disorders:A multicentre open pilot study

    BackgroundGroup schema therapy (GST) is increasingly popular as a treatment for personality disorders (PDs), including Cluster-C PDs. Individual ST has proven to be effective for Cluster-C PD patients, while the evidence for GST is limited. This study aimed to investigate the effectiveness of GST for Cluster-C PD. Moreover, differ- ences between the specific Cluster-C PDs (avoidant PD, dependent PD and obsessive-compulsive PD) were explored.MethodsA multicentre open trial was conducted, including 137 patients with a Cluster-C PD (avoidant PD: n = 107, dependent PD: n = 11 and obsessive- compulsive PD: n = 19). Patients received 30 weekly GST sessions with a maximum of 180 min of individual ST and five optional monthly booster sessions. Outcome measures including Cluster-C PD severity, general psychopathological symptoms, quality of life, functional impairment, happiness, PD-related beliefs, self-esteem, self- ideal discrepancy, schemas and schema modes were assessed at baseline until 2-year follow-up with semi-structured interviews and self-report measures. Change over time and differences between the specific Cluster-C PDs were analysed with mixed regression analyses.ResultsThe outcome measures showed significant improvements for all Cluster-C PDs, with medium to large effect sizes after 2 years. A treatment dropout rate of 11.7% was found. There were some indications for differences between the Cluster-C PDs in severity at baseline, change trajectories and effectiveness of GST. ConclusionsThis study demonstrated that GST is a promising treatment for Cluster-C PDs. The following step is a randomized controlled trial to further document the (cost-)effectiveness of GST. <br/
